Josh Smith is a Captain/Paramedic with Richland Fire & Emergency Services (RF&ES) located in southeast Washington State. Josh has been in the fire service for 21 years both as a career and volunteer firefighter, spending the last 9 years with RF&ES. In addition to his role in operations, he serves on the departments cardiac resuscitation committee, and is the program coordinator of Heart Safe Richland. Josh also serves as the Chair for the Citizen CPR Foundation’s program advisory committee on Heart Safe Communities. In 2019, he championed the City of Richland’s efforts on becoming the first Heart Safe Community designated by the CCPRF using the revised, objective criteria. Josh was a recipient of the inaugural "40 under 40 award" at the CCPRF’s, Cardiac Arrest Survival Summit, in Seattle, WA. This award recognizes individuals under the age of 40 who are considered to be future leaders in cardiac arrest survival.
