Summary: Have you practiced your emergency response to what might be your worst nightmare situation? Or, will it be your first dry run?
Practice primes proficiency!

Synopsis: Practice primes proficiency! Training linemen and safety representatives in the electric utility industry to prepare for the event using group, crew or team mental simulations, improves the shared mental model for a unified response, and creates better outcomes in stressful events. Practicing quality CPR and learning the best resuscitation science is only one part of the equation. Learning how to do short mental simulations for unlikely but highly stressful events, and doing them at regular intervals provides the platform for a better layperson response. System weaknesses are highlighted when we practice. For most people in an office setting, a response to a cardiac arrest will be their first dry run, unless they have simulated what it will look like.

Learning Objectives:

  • By the end of the presentation, attendees will learn what neurosynchrony is and how it can improve a response to OHCA.
  • By the end of this presentation attendees will discover how mental simulations improve responses to serious events for laypersons performing CPR.
  • This presentation will include ways to educate citizens that can lead to a comprehensive change to a culture of excellence and improved CPR training in the community, schools and workplace.
