Summary: Learn about how Yorkshire Ambulance Service implemented an ambassador programme, what lessons were learned and how you can do the same to empower young people in schools to teach CPR on your behalf

Synopsis: Every organisation has limitations on the number of CPR training sessions they can host and therefore the number of people they can train.

This presentation suggests that community groups and schools/colleges can be ‘recruited’ as community partners to help deliver the training as an outreach arm of the host organisation therefore widening participation and improving sustainability. The presentation explores different models currently utilised by Yorkshire Ambulance Service that empower individuals to take ownership and responsibility for improving their own community. This presentation will allow the listener to hear about how we implemented an ambassador programme, what we learned and how they can do the same

Learning Objectives:

  • After participating in this session, attendees should be able to design a similar programme to the Yorkshire Ambulance Service Ambassador programme which can be implemented and delivered in their own communities. After participating in this session, attendees should be able to recognise the need for community empowerment to maximise the reach of CPR education
  • This presentation will include ways to educate citizens that can lead to a comprehensive change to a culture of excellence and improved CPR training in the community, schools and workplace.
