Dr. Janice Tijssen is a pediatric intensivist and Director of the Pediatric Critical Care Unit at the Children's Hospital, London Health Sciences Centre, in London, Canada. She is Chair of the Pediatric Emphasis Group of the Emergency Cardiovascular Care Committee of the American Heart Association. She volunteers for the Heart and Stroke Foundation of Canada and is a Pediatric Life Support Taskforce Member for the International Liaison Committee on Resuscitation. She is a PALS instructor and medical director and has been involved in PALS guidelines and product development. Her research program focuses on the chain of survival for pediatric out-of-hospital cardiac arrest by identification of at-risk groups, access to care, guideline adherence, and outcomes. She is the Principal Investigator for the PRIME Trial, a randomized controlled trial investigating intra-muscular epinephrine administration by paramedics responding to pediatric cardiac arrest.
