Dr. Tanner is a board certified pediatric emergency medicine physician in Dayton, OH where he is an assistant professor at Dayton Children's Hospital and Wright State University Boonshoft School of Medicine. Dr. Tanner has a background in international health and disaster preparedness with a particular interest in emergency management and mitigating disasters for pediatric health care facilities both here in the US and internationally. He completed fellowship in pediatric emergency medicine at Baylor College of Medicine and Texas Children's Hospital in Houston, TX. During fellowship, he researched the impact of the COVID-19 pandemic on pediatric emergency centers and collected best-practice measures from centers across the United States so institutions can learn from prior experiences to be better prepared for disease outbreaks in the future. Additionally, he has spent significant time in Malawi, Africa assisting the department of pediatrics at a government hospital with their education of trainees, boosting the clinician coverage within the wards, and collaborating with local clinicians on quality improvement and other research. Prior to fellowship, Dr. Tanner completed his pediatric residency at The University of Utah School of Medicine and Primary Children's Hospital. A native of Texas, Dr. Tanner played football at Baylor University before receiving his Master's in Public Health and Medical Science from Boston University, and his medical degree from Texas A&M College of Medicine. Dr. Tanner enjoys spending time with his family exploring the great outdoors and watching football with his sheepdog, Birdie.
