Summary: Learn about the impact on outcomes and other tangible benefits to a community by providing law enforcement officers with AEDs. We will share our experiences and celebrate the saves with others to help them replicate the results.

Synopsis: The Helmsley Charitable Trust has provided funding to eight states with significant rural populations to implement a law enforcement AED project. MT and SD have completed their implementation; ND, MN, NE, IA, WY, and NV are in various stages of the project. All have seen amazing adoption rates by their agencies with several saves documented. Using videos and testimonials, we show the impact of this project on the officers, their communities, and the individuals they have served. Tips on implementation and best practice as well as challenges to overcome will be addressed.

Learning Objectives:

Describe three (3) "best practice" models for implementing a Law Enforcement AED program.
Describe three (3) barriers and solutions to implementing a Law Enforcement AED program.
This presentation will include components of a high quality collaborative cardiovascular and resuscitation program in a dispatch, EMS and / or healthcare system that has demonstrated improvement in survival from SCA.
This presentation will describe one or more survivor / rescuer stories that can be used to illustrate an effective chain of survival for cardiac arrest.
