Dr. Charlton is a professor of emergency medicine and Program Director for the Medical Toxicology fellowship at the University of Virginia. He specializes in emergency medicine, medical toxicology and addiction medicine, being board certified in all three specialties. He is the Chair of the First Aid Subcouncil of the American Red Cross Scientific Advisory Council and a member of the First Aid Subcouncil of the International Liaison Committee on Resuscitation. He has participated in and received grant funding in multiple fields of practice and has over 50 academic publications. He is a graduate of the University of South Florida (MD), completed an emergency medicine residency at the University of South Carolina and a medical toxicology fellowship at the University of Virginia.
