Benjamin Abella, MD MPhil is the William G Baxt Professor and Vice Chair of Emergency Medicine at the University of Pennsylvania, where he also serves as Director of the Center for Resuscitation Science. He has led research on cardiac arrest epidemiology, CPR and post-arrest care for 20 years, and has authored over 250 publications on these topics. His work has been supported by the NIH, DOD, and other funding bodies. He is a CPR consultant to the National Basketball Association, has volunteered extensively for the American Heart Association, and worked closely with the US Air Force to establish post-arrest care protocols in military medicine.
