Dana O'Dea, MS, BSN, RN, is a Nursing Professional Development Practitioner for the VA in Spokane, WA. Prior to becoming a nurse, she was a curriculum design and development specialist for private business where she developed employee training programs and managed training staff. After becoming a Registered Nurse, she worked as a cardiac medical and sepsis unit floor nurse and relief charge nurse at a community hospital. While continuing hospital nursing, Dana combined her background in education with nursing to become a clinical educator for the Gonzaga University nursing program. Enjoying nursing education led Dana to transition to Spokane's VA Medical Center as a full time Nursing Professional Development Practitioner. In that role, Dana has the opportunity to provide clinical education to nursing staff as well as leadership development to all staff so that they are providing the best practices when caring for our nation's Veterans. Her current clinical focus is on her facility's mock code program.
