"Nici" Singletary, MD, FACEP is a professor of emergency medicine at the University of Virginia. Following graduation from Eastern Virginia Medical School, she completed her residency in emergency medicine at Brooke Army Medical Center (San Antonio, Texas). After her career in the US Army, Dr. Singletary practiced in Norfolk, Virginia where she was the Medical Director of the Emergency Department at Sentara Norfolk General Hospital, an Assistant Director for the Residency in Emergency Medicine at EVMS and a member of the FEMA VA-2 Urban Search and Rescue Team. A thirty-year member of the National Ski Patrol, Dr. Singletary has been actively involved in the development of the Outdoor Emergency Care course and textbooks. She is a past Chair of the ILCOR First Aid Task Force, a member of the ILCOR Scientific Advisory Committee, and serves as the Co-Chair of the American Red Cross Scientific Advisory Council.
