Dr. Asselin started his career as a call firefighter/EMT in 2001 in a small town in Massachusetts. He later worked as an EMT for a third service EMS provider in metro Boston, before attending medical school at the University of New England in Biddeford, ME. He later came to Rhode Island to pursue his Emergency Medicine Residency at Brown University where he was a chief resident and an EMS Physician on the hospital’s critical care transport service.
After residency he attended fellowship in EMS at the UMASS Worcester, where he was an assistant medical director for several local agencies and an EMS Physician for Worcester EMS/LifeFlight before he returned to Brown Emergency Medicine as an Attending Physician. Dr. Asselin currently serves as the program director for the EMS Fellowship at Brown and as a medical director for numerous Rhode Island EMS agencies. His academic research focuses on improving systems of care in cardiac arrest.
