Summary: CardiacCrashTM is an engaging, realistic, interactive film-based CPR training method featuring a FEMALE victim, a world first. Paired with hands-on CPR practice, this realistic film teaches lay rescuers to overcome barriers to performing CPR on women

Synopsis: CardiacCrash was developed through an international collaboration between the UK, US and Canada. In this world-first, a realistic and emotional cardiac arrest scenario featuring a FEMALE VICTIM reflects a true-to-life experience. Learners are immersed in the 30-min scenario as the victim's co-workers struggle with barriers to performing CPR on a woman, including whether to remove her clothing, fear of inappropriate touching, and how to place the AED.

During this presentation, we will demonstrate the engaging and dynamic CPR training method called CardiacCrashTM, with versions designed for both school and the workplace. Learners will experience the emotions and competition of this immersive experience, paired with opportunities to perform 2-min of uninterrupted CPR.

Learning Objectives:

  • Describe how realistic, interactive film-based CPR training not only teaches mechanical CPR skills, but also shifts the paradigm of CPR training to focus on emotional preparation to respond to cardiac arrest. Describe 3 benefits of a short-duration (<30min) realistic, interactive film-based CPR training program featuring a FEMALE VICTIM (CardiacCrashTM) can help overcome time and gender barriers to CPR.
  • This presentation will include ways to educate citizens that can lead to a comprehensive change to a culture of excellence and improved CPR training in the community, schools and workplace.
