This talk will summarize two meetings that the AHA sponsors this fall just prior to the Resuscitation Science Symposium. The first is the Double-Sequential Defibrillation Think Tank. This was an interdisciplinary discussion to understand current clinical and technical issues related to DSD and next steps for pre-competitive collaboration to: 1) clarify the unmet needs; 2) identify clinical and technical effectiveness issues, 3) identify clinical and technical safety issues, and 4) discuss next steps for precompetitive collaboration on DSD deliverables.
The second meeting is the AED Symposium, held immediately after the DSD meeting to create a roadmap with strategic priorities for the AHA and other partners to help increase access to AEDs for patients with cardiac arrest. Specific topics included Science and Innovation, Human Factors with an emphasis on community response and policy, Best Practices in PAD programs and Novel solutions to PAD programs.
