Summary: This presentation focuses on building an AED registry with the goal of providing nearby AED locations to 9-1-1 callers during cardiac arrest call processing. The capability to provide both T-CPR and AED locations (T-AED) is readily available today.

Synopsis: When a caller contacts a communications center and reports a likely cardiac arrest, getting CPR started and sourcing a nearby AED are both critical actions to initiate without delay. The capability to provide both telecommunicator CPR (T-CPR) and nearby AED locations (T-AED) is readily available today. This presentation will focus on the steps required to build and manage an AED registry and provide nearby community AED locations to callers during cardiac arrest call processing

Learning Objectives:

  • After participating in this session, attendees should be able to articulate the value of an AED registry for emergency communication center use, and, depending on their position, begin implementing an AED registry to provide AED locations to callers during cardiac arrest call processing.
  • After participating in this session, attendees should be able to identify the role emergency medical dispatch systems, AED manufacturers, CAD vendors, and other public safety vendors play in a modern AED registry ecosystem.
