Summary: Highlighting the motive, success and challenges of implementing a CFR program that equips CFR's with an AED Response kit and a direct link to a Paramedic when responding to calls for real-time coaching and support.

Synopsis: Highlighting an innovate approach to our Community Responder Program by providing Community Responders with an AED Response kit. In addition, leveraging our mobile app to link Community Responders directly with a Paramedic when responding to calls for real-time coaching and support. We will discuss the motive for implementation, our successes, and challenges during our first full year of implementation.

Learning Objectives:

  • Re-defining how we connect those who need the help, by equipping citizens willing to help in cardiac related emergencies. We will share how our status quo is not working by placing more AED's on walls in public places expecting different results. We will also discuss the human factors we have learned when following up with Community Responders after participating in a response, and how involving real-time feedback and coaching has had an impact on our program.
  • This presentation will discuss how to implement three (3) elements of a comprehensive dispatch CPR and/or rapid dispatch program.
  • This presentation will discuss ways to advance Public Access AED placement and utilization.
  • This presentation will include components of a high quality collaborative cardiovascular and resuscitation program in a dispatch, EMS and / or healthcare system that has demonstrated improvement in survival from SCA.
  • This presentation will include strategies for implementing data collection and quality improvement programs in an ECC system to support accountability and reporting.
