Summary: Embarking on the quality improvement journey, a community hospital identified barriers and opportunities to improve performance, implement change, and measure outcomes. What we discovered was that small changes yielded the greatest impact.

Synopsis: This presentation will describe a community hospital system's barriers and progress in achieving and sustaining a culture of high-quality resuscitation to increase survival of in-hospital cardiac arrest. A small, yet persistent team utilized data to drive effective change and improve the in-hospital cardiac arrest survival rate.

This presentation will include the pivotal moments on the journey where changes were made to impact and improve resuscitation performance. As well as the small changes that yielded the greatest impact, the barriers and opportunities that remain.

Learning Objectives:

To demonstrate how a small team has positively impacted key quality metrics and improved survival of in-hospital cardiac arrest.
To share how to implement data-driven change to improve resuscitation performance.
This presentation will include components of a high quality collaborative cardiovascular and resuscitation program in a dispatch, EMS and / or healthcare system that has demonstrated improvement in survival from SCA.
